You’re in control!
May 14th, 2010
Currently I’m making an internet controlled robot which you can see on my projects page, however I was considering maybe allowing YOU use over the internet. This would mean you pay a small fee (just to cover electricity and internet costs) via PayPal then login at a booked time to have a play with it. I do however need to figure out how to stream video, so that you (and I) can see where you’re going. Also due to the way the internet works you should be able to drive it almost as far as you like as long as you have a signal, I will however put in some limits with GPS tracking and also possibly proximity sensors so you can’t drive it into anything. Hopefully I have my second Motor controller in the post today so I can finish the electronics and get on with the programming

More SketchyPhysics
April 27th, 2010
As I haven’t posted for a while I thought I’d do a bit of an update
. Recently Browsing Google’s 3D warehouse. I came across a sketchyphysics challenge (for those who don’t know sketchyphysics is a physics engine for google sketchup) to build Read the rest of this entry »

Virtual reality
March 24th, 2010
I’ve been researching and have found loads of amasing VR technology. Virtual reality is a way that allows the user to interact with the computer generated environment, thus making the experience more involved. There are already many projects underway but at this time unfortunatley none are available to the public. Below are a few examples of VR technology: Read the rest of this entry »

Tribal Wars
March 17th, 2010
I’ve recently started playing this game, primarily for research for a game of my own which I am making with a friend (sorry no details yet as it’s still in progress). However I couldn’t help but get addicted and now have my own tribe with, at the time of writing this post, 13 members. The aim of Tribal Wars Is to build up a village and then conquer others. You Have 3 different resources: Wood, Clay and iron which you use to build and upgrade buildings but also for recruiting troops as they need swords etc. I honestly recommend anyone with even a few minutes of spare time to give it a try as it’s a rather slow paced game. There’s plenty of help documentation available too if you get stuck.

Holidays
February 23rd, 2010
In france at the moment on holiday however that’s not enough to stop me updating my blog. Obviously I’ll Have to talk about something related to technology as that is the theme of my blog. The thing that interests me is the workings of the chair lifts and gondalas. In paticular how the chairs detatch from the cabel for the slow loop. Also I have seen a fanicular which is like a single train that goes through a tunnel in the mountain. Does hurt your ears though.I may make a similar model when i return with google sketchup and sketchyphysics.
Another thing i have noticed on the mountains is the massive change in air pressure. If you buy a bottle of water at the top of the mountain it will be crushed further down. Impressive!

NoLimits
February 4th, 2010
In my previous post I mentioned about roller coaster tycoon 3. Well there is also a dedicated roller-coaster editor called NoLimits. Unlike RCT3 NoLimits is purely for designing. It allows for a far more flexible track design as it uses bezier curves to design the layout as opposed to individual track pieces. I do However still prefer RCT3 as it is a lot more fun and as opposed to building individual roller coasters you can build entire parks with other types of amusement. I’m still yet to figure out a way of extracting data for either of these programs for my own home made motion simulator.

Roller coaster tycoon 3
January 30th, 2010
I’ve always loved rollercoasters and thrills, as well as the technology and physics behind it all. A few years ago I did have Roller coaster tycoon 3 (and 1 and 2) but sold them a while later. Now I really regret doing this
. RCT 3 is an amasing game as it allows you to be extremely creative, especially in sandbox mode. What I never realised before however is that you could Read the rest of this entry »

Pixel art city
January 30th, 2010
(this blog post is old and no longer true). The city is finally up and running!. To use the city you must have javascript enabled. Hopefully if I get enough people join then the city should become huge, a bit like building a new city
. You can upload your own pixel art images, comment on others and help expand the virtual city.
